(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of May 27, thousands of people from the coastal area of ​​Dien Chau gathered at the shore of Dien Thinh commune to pull the whale ashore to carry out burial procedures according to custom. By evening, the whale was brought up from the sea but because it was too heavy, it could not be lifted onto a car to be buried.

All morning, the authorities and people of Dien Thinh commune used boats to pull the fish to shore. Above, the crane system was ready and waiting.

Due to the heavy weight of the fish and the rising tide, it was difficult to bring the fish to shore. Thousands of people were eagerly waiting on shore. A raft carrying people to approach the whale even capsized, but no one was injured.

Currently, the whale is about 50 meters from shore, and authorities are using a winch to pull the whale ashore. Authorities are using a large crane and a plastic tarpaulin hundreds of square meters wide. The four corners of the tarpaulin are attached to the crane, the whale will be placed inside the tarpaulin and then hoisted ashore.

At the scene, thousands of people stood around watching the whale being brought ashore. Police and soldiers were mobilized to create a barrier to prevent people from approaching the whale's body.

Dien Thinh commune authorities said that immediately after discovering the whale's body about 1km from the shore, the commune mobilized forces and vehicles to salvage and bring the whale ashore to carry out burial procedures according to traditional customs of coastal residents.

A reporter from Nghe An Newspaper who was present at the scene said that when the fish was lifted up, due to the heavy weight, a cable broke and hit a local resident, injuring him and he is being taken to the emergency room.

At 8:00 p.m., the fish carcass was brought from the sea to shore; however, because the fish was too heavy, it could not be lifted onto a car and taken to the burial site.

It is expected that tomorrow (May 28), local authorities and people will bury the fish according to traditional customs of coastal people.

At dawn on May 27, people in Dien Thinh commune, Dien Chau district discovered a decomposed whale carcass, lying about 1km from shore. A working group from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Aquatic Resources Protection and relevant agencies of Dien Chau district were present to discuss a plan to salvage the whale and bring it ashore for burial according to local customs.
