Attending the meeting were leaders of relevant departments and branches.

In recent years, agricultural production in Western Nghe An has developed quite comprehensively and in the right direction. The structure of crops, livestock, and seasonal structures has changed in a direction suitable to ecological conditions and towards commodity production. Here, concentrated, large-scale raw material areas have been formed and developed stably, associated with the processing industry, creating many valuable agricultural products. However, the productivity of some crops has increased slowly and is low compared to the average of the province. Economic efficiency per unit area is low. Production organization is not effective, infrastructure serving agricultural production has not met the requirements of intensive farming and commodity production...

The objective of the Project on Developing Major Plants and Animals in Western Nghe An is to build a comprehensively developed agriculture with a fast and sustainable pace, ensuring food security in the area. Accelerate the development of the livestock industry, making livestock one of the main sectors in agricultural production in the region, contributing to increasing export turnover. Strive for the period 2013-2015, the growth rate of agriculture - forestry - fishery reaches 5-6%/year, 3-4% in the period 2016-2020.

According to the Project, the main crops distributed in the 11 districts of the region are food crops (rice, corn), short-term industrial crops (sugarcane, peanuts), long-term industrial crops (oranges, tangerines, tea, passion fruit), and fodder plants. The main animals selected for raising are buffalo, cows (focusing on dairy cows), pigs (focusing on piglets), poultry, and fish.

Comrade Dinh Viet Hong concluded the meeting.

At the meeting, the sectors discussed and gave many comments on adjusting the scope of the project, determining which plants and animals are mainly grown and raised in Western Nghe An and needing to rebuild the data accordingly.

After listening to the opinions of the delegates, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong concluded, requesting the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the consulting unit to receive opinions and complete the Project for submission to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration.
