Ms. Nguyen Le Thuy, Deputy Director, Deputy Chief of the Office of Sustainable Development, Department of Science, Education, Natural Resources and Environment, said that Vietnam has made many innovations, from a closed economy to a dynamic part of the global economy. Although many achievements have been made in economic development, the economy still faces challenges, and competitiveness is still weak in many aspects. Vietnam's competitivenessMaleare assessed and ranked at a modest level, often lower than other countries in the region. Therefore, improving competitiveness and ensuring sustainable development are important contents for the development of the Vietnamese economy.Male.

According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Cung, Deputy Director of the Central Institute for Economic Management, Ministry of Planning and Investment, according to this Draft Project, the development of an in-depth report on Vietnam's national competitiveness can be carried out in two ways. Option 1, based on the competitiveness assessment framework according to the approach of the World Economic Forum, focuses on in-depth analysis of the current status of factors in the group of factors that improve efficiency.

Option 2 is also based on the competitiveness assessment framework according to the World Economic Forum approach and the set of competitiveness assessment indexes. Information and data on the indexes are conducted on the basis of surveys and opinions from ministries, branches, businesses and experts. The survey is to identify the 20 most important indicators that need to be improved. From there, the competitiveness report focuses on in-depth analysis of these 20 indicators and recommends policies to improve those indicators.

However, some economic experts believe that building a set of indexes and methods to assess Vietnam's national competitiveness is not a ranking report but helps the Government manage the macro economy, focusing on issues that need improvement to enhance Vietnam's competitiveness./.
