Building support policies for boarding students

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of November 21, the Provincial People's Committee had a working session with the Department of Education and Training and a number of related departments and branches to listen to and give opinions on the Draft Resolution of the Provincial People's Council on Regulations on distance, determining areas where students cannot go to school and return during the day; The percentage of funding for cooking for students in ethnic boarding schools, schools that organize centralized cooking for students according to the provisions of Decree No. 116/2016/ND-CP dated July 18, 2016 of the Government in Nghe An province.

Decree No. 116/2016/ND-CP replaces Decision No. 85/201/QD-TTg and Decision No. 12/2013/QD-TTg on regulations on conditions for students to enjoy support policies and funding rates for cooking for students in ethnic minority boarding schools and schools that organize centralized cooking for students.

In accordance with Decree 116, the Nghe An Department of Education and Training has drafted a plan to replace Decision No. 67/2013/QD-UBND applicable to primary and secondary school students and ethnic minority boarding schools or general schools that organize centralized cooking for students. In particular, the main focus is on two contents: regulations on distance, location to determine students who cannot go to school and return during the day and regulations on the percentage of funding for cooking for students according to the funding level equal to 135% of the basic salary/1 month/30 students.

Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Luu Duc Thuyen reported on the draft to replace Decree 116/2016/QD-UBND.

Commenting on the draft, comrade Le Minh Thong requested the Department of Education and Training to clarify the provisions of the draft, the subjects of application and the specific support levels for schools in accordance with the characteristics of Nghe An province. In addition, it is necessary to promptly complete the draft contents to comply with the regulations on order and procedures for drafting and promulgating documents.

He also affirmed that Decree 116 is a policy of great significance for students in disadvantaged and remote areas, contributing to solving difficulties for the current operations of boarding schools. Therefore, the Department of Education and Training and relevant departments need to coordinate to urgently complete the draft before submitting it to the Provincial People's Committee and passing it at the upcoming Provincial People's Council meeting./.
