Building Vinh University into a national key university

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of April 16, under the chairmanship of comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee held a working session to approve the 31st Vinh University Party Congress, term 2015 - 2020.

Attending the meeting were comrades: Tran Hong Chau - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Le Quang Huy - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors.

The draft Political Report presented by Associate Professor, Dr. Dinh Xuan Khoa - Party Committee Secretary, Principal of the school shows that: In the 2010 - 2015 term, under the leadership of the Party Committee, the school achieved and exceeded 24/25 targets. The Party Committee of the school has promoted its role in orienting and planning strategic plans, major programs and projects of the school. The system of documents serving leadership and management work has been completed. Political and ideological education work is always given importance; The political and ideological situation among cadres, students and pupils is stable; Party building work is always given attention.

The organizational structure of the school is arranged reasonably, in accordance with the scale and development of the school; The scale and quality of training initially meet the needs of society; The assessment of the quality of students' learning is fair and objective. Research and technology transfer activities are initially effective. International cooperation activities are expanded and strengthened. Facilities and equipment are invested. Security, order and safety in the school are always ensured.... The position of Vinh University in the Vietnamese higher education system is increasingly affirmed.

With the results achieved, in the 2010-2015 term, the school was awarded many noble titles: The school was awarded the First Class Independence Medal by the President; The Prime Minister officially put it on the list of key national universities; The Ministry of Education and Training selected it as one of the 7 centers for training and fostering teachers and educational managers nationwide...

Comrade Nguyen Huu Lam - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Board emphasized that Vinh University needs to attract good cadres and experts.

Comrade Dinh Xuan Khoa - Party Secretary, Rector of Vinh University presented the draft political report.

In the 2015-2020 term, the Vinh University Party Committee set out the following directions: Improving the leadership capacity and fighting strength of both the Party organization and Party members, promoting the combined strength, fundamentally and comprehensively innovating education and training; proactively integrating internationally; maintaining and promoting the title of a strong Party Committee, building Vinh University into a national key university, with some majors meeting international standards, and being a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Universities.

Concluding the meeting, comrade Ho Duc Phoc requested Vinh University to overcome shortcomings and limitations in the past term, considering this a task that must be performed well in the next term. The draft political report needs to clarify the goals in the following years; Improve the quality of training skills and thinking ability for students to develop comprehensively; Recruit, train, and attract many good lecturers and experts; Strengthen international cooperation and relationships with industries; promote research and application of science; call for investment in building facilities. The goal is to build Vinh University into a national key university; contribute to making Nghe An a center for training high-quality human resources in the North Central region.
