Building a Memorial Site for President Ho Chi Minh in Laos
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Ho Chi Minh Museum Memorial Area was held on the morning of April 18 in Xiangvang village, Nongbouk district, Khammouane province. The event was organized by the Ho Chi Minh Museum of Vietnam.
Attending the groundbreaking ceremony, on the Lao side were Deputy Governor of Khammouane Somchay Phetsinuon; Deputy Chief of the Central Office of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, in charge of the Kaysone Phomvihan Museum, Mr. Souvandi Sisavath; on the Vietnamese side were Ambassador Luong Quoc Huy and Director of the Ho Chi Minh Museum Chu Duc Tinh.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Souvandi Sisavath, on behalf of the Central Party Committee and Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, affirmed that the Ho Chi Minh Museum is a project of important political and historical significance, demonstrating the unique cultural features of the two nations.
He emphasized: President Ho Chi Minh is the great and beloved leader of the people of Laos and Vietnam. He founded the Indochinese Communist Party, the predecessor of today's Lao People's Revolutionary Party, and is the one who built and nurtured the special relationship and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States and peoples - a rare example in international relations today.
Mr. Souvandi Sisavath stated that the construction of the memorial site for President Ho Chi Minh on the land where he lived and carried out revolutionary activities is to express deep and infinite gratitude for his great contributions throughout his life of dedicating his spirit, strength and intelligence to the revolutionary cause of Laos and Vietnam.
This project is funded by both Laos and Vietnam.
Director of the Ho Chi Minh Museum Chu Duc Tinh stated that the above project was built with non-refundable aid from the Vietnamese Government to the Lao Government, expressing the deep affection of the people of the two countries for President Ho Chi Minh, practically commemorating the 122nd anniversary of his birth and major holidays in the "Vietnam - Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2012".
The project invested by Ho Chi Minh Museum is located on an area of 1.5 hectares, with a total investment of nearly 35 billion VND, including the items of Memorial House; Exhibition House introducing the revolutionary life of President Ho Chi Minh; President Ho Chi Minh with the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos.
The Economic Cooperation Corporation and the Central Cultural Equipment and Relics Restoration Joint Stock Company will construct and display the art. The project will be implemented within 12 months from the commencement date./.
