(Baonghean.vn) - Quynh Lien is the largest vegetable growing commune in Hoang Mai town with an area of ​​330 hectares, mainly growing short-term vegetables. Currently, the Women's Union of the commune is implementing a safe vegetable production model, attracting 26 members to participate.

Quynh Lien Commune, Hoang Mai Town is an area with favorable climate and soil conditions for the production of vegetables, flowers, and fruits, serving the consumption needs of local people, as well as exporting to wholesale markets. In recent years, there have been many vegetable production models with high economic efficiency... On average, each year, the revenue from vegetables reaches 75-80 billion.

However, Quynh Lien farmers have long been producing vegetables in the traditional way, the quality of safe vegetables is not really guaranteed, when analyzed, the amount of residual Nitrate, pesticides and harmful microorganisms is still quite high. The groundwater is contaminated with pesticide residues, leading to pollution.

To build a safe vegetable production model, the Women's Union of Hoang Mai town coordinated with Viet Xanh Technology Investment and Development Joint Stock Company to select Ms. Le Thi Kim's family in village 7 to pilot planting 2 sao of cucumber variety 559.

In December 2015, Ms. Kim started a trial planting. After plowing the land and making beds, she used manure as basal fertilizer and VitaF-B microbial foliar fertilizer. The cucumbers grew very well, were pest-free and bore many fruits, with a much higher yield than the traditional method, reaching nearly 2 tons/sao. If nitrogen and chemical fertilizers were used as before, it would take 5-7 days to harvest the cucumbers, but with the microbial fertilizer, the supplier recommended that it could be used immediately because it was non-toxic.

Ms. Kim said: The cost and care of safe vegetable production is the same as traditional production, but growing according to the safe model has higher productivity, and consumers feel secure when eating, so melons are easy to sell.

After the success of the pilot model of growing clean cucumbers, in April 2016, the Women's Union of Hoang Mai town coordinated with Viet Xanh Technology Investment and Development Joint Stock Company to open a training course for 26 women's union members of Quynh Lien commune. The members were supported with a bottle of VitaF-B probiotic worth 235,000 VND.

During the production process, women members are guided to record information and forms for using fertilizers, supplements, pesticides, forms for purchasing seeds and seedlings, evaluating water sources and water supply systems.

Currently, experimental models using biofertilizers to grow cucumbers, watermelons, cantaloupes and white gourds initially show that production costs are equal to traditional production methods, with high productivity and cleaner products; and are favored by customers.
