APEC Capacity Building on Maritime Search and Rescue

On July 18-19, in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa, the International Workshop "APEC Capacity Building on Search and Rescue at Sea" took place.



The workshop had more than 50 delegates from APEC member countries.

The workshop is within the framework of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum hosted by Vietnam.Malecooperation with member countries: Japan,Australiaand Taiwan. More than 50 delegates from APEC member countries; international and regional organizations and representatives from many ministries and branches of Vietnam.Maleattend the workshop. The content focuses on discussing four main groups of issues: Sharing experiences in search and rescue of member countries; search and rescue procedures and application of new technology and tools; efforts of the international community in search and rescue at sea; APEC cooperation in search and rescue at sea to promote reliable supply chains and enhance connectivity.

Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Van Thang said: Recently, VietnamMalefacing many accidents and incidents at sea causing great damage to people, property and economic development. Faced with that challenge, the Vietnamese GovernmentMalehas been devoting many resources and priority policies to rescue work in general and at sea in particular, such as: Improving the capacity of rescue teams; international and regional cooperation in rescue.
