Building a solid national defense foundation with a solid people's security posture

(Baonghean.vn) - On January 3, 2014, Military Region 4 and 6 provinces in the area held a joint conference to deploy the implementation of military and defense tasks in 2014. Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Cuong, Commander of the Military Region chaired the conference. Attending the conference were leaders of the People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien Hue provinces. Comrade Thai Van Hang - Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee attended and spoke at the conference.

In 2013, the Party Standing Committee, the Military Region Command, the Party Committees, the authorities and the departments, branches and local organizations of the 6 provinces closely coordinated and effectively implemented the military and defense tasks. Notably, they focused on doing a good job of propaganda and education on the two strategic tasks of building and protecting the Fatherland for the officers and soldiers of the armed forces and all classes of people. The work of educating and fostering national defense and security knowledge for the subjects was implemented in accordance with the content and program, achieving good quality. The entire Military Region opened 1,148 training classes on national defense and security knowledge with over 101,500 participants.

The Military Region coordinated with localities to direct and seriously implement the directives and orders of the Ministry of National Defense and the Military Region, organize training to improve the combat readiness of local troops, militia and self-defense forces, and reserve forces in line with local characteristics and tasks. During the year, the entire Military Region organized 349 drills. All levels directed the implementation of the review and consolidation of the militia and self-defense forces with sufficient numbers, reasonable organization and staffing, and continuous improvement in quality. 100% of establishments completed the training program for militia and self-defense forces, the number of troops reached 96.62%, the inspection results were quite good, and the percentage of party members in the militia and self-defense forces reached 26.58%. Responding to the movement of joining hands to build new rural areas, 126 agencies and units of the Military Region have signed to participate in building 170 communes, 754 villages, donating more than 5 billion VND, 42,000 working days, 178 machine shifts, consolidating 630km of rural roads, 200km of intra-field canals, 36 schools, cultural houses...

Focus on improving the leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party organizations, the fighting strength of the Military Region's armed forces, the quality of training, building discipline, ensuring the combat readiness of the Military Region's armed forces, proactively fighting to defeat the "DBHB" strategy, riots and overthrows of the forces, contributing to maintaining political security, promoting local economic and social development.
