In the land known as the "capital" of that beautiful Muong land, the Party Committee and people of Chau Tien commune, Quy Chau district are joining hands to build a new countryside to both build a rich and beautiful homeland and preserve and promote the value of the space rich in ancient Thai cultural identity.

Going back to the Western region of Nghe An, I once again immersed myself in the rich Thai cultural space, the charming scenery of Bua cave and the water wheels hidden in the morning mist in Chau Tien commune, Quy Chau district. In the quiet pace of life, the village suddenly bustled with the atmosphere of building new rural roads. The people of Hong Tien 1 village are joining hands to complete a new, spacious and spacious concrete road running through the village center. Village chief Quang Van Tuan - 34 years old and 6 years of Party membership, looks dignified beyond his age, excitedly said: "To build new rural areas, the villagers have volunteered to donate thousands of square meters of garden land with many old trees to build roads. Although each person suffers a little loss, it brings common benefits to the community, so the villagers agree to support.

People of Hong Tien 1 village (Chau Tien commune) make concrete roads.

The residents of Hong Tien 1 village are mainly Thai ethnic people, the economy mainly depends on agriculture, so the lives of many people are not without difficulties. Therefore, to gain that consensus and support, the Party Committee, the commune government and the village leaders have mobilized the people, explained the benefits as well as how to implement the new rural area. Along with that, promoting the exemplary and pioneering role of the Party members in the Hong Tien 1 Party cell for people to follow. One of those Party members is Le Van Son. Although his family's economy only depends on 4 sao of rice fields and many worries about daily life, young Party member Le Van Son (28 years old) still donated more than 100m2 of his family's acacia land that was about to be harvested to build a concrete road. “The new rural construction program according to the Party and State's policy aims to improve the quality of life for the people in the countryside. After the road is completed, students and people can travel conveniently and do not have to wade through dirt roads like before. The benefits are clear, so I support and voluntarily donate land,” Son shared. Up to now, the whole Hanh Tien 1 village has had 13 households participating in donating land. At the commune level, dozens of households have participated in donating land, money, labor, trees, fences... such as Mr. Lu Van Vinh's household in Hong Tien 1 village, Mr. Vi Van Doan's household in Hanh Tien village... In total, in 2012, right after the launching ceremony of the people joining hands to build new rural areas, 6.3 km of road was dug, repaired, 2.6 km of fences were moved; 85 households donated land with a total area of ​​over 2,000 m2.

Currently, Chau Tien is actively guiding people to invest in economic development, deploy new economic models, break the monoculture of rice cultivation, and improve living standards. For example, the cage fish farming model, currently the whole commune has 120 fish cages raised in Hanh Tien, Hoa Tien 1 and Hoa Tien 2 villages. Mr. Luong Tien Sinh - Secretary of the Commune Party Committee said: "Fish cage farming households all have quite high income compared to the general level. Currently, the commune is encouraging people to invest in development". In addition, Chau Tien also determined to continue promoting the strength of the traditional brocade weaving profession of the Thai people in Hoa Tien 1 and 2 villages, which has been restored and developed for nearly 10 years. Accordingly, there are exemplary party members who have truly taken the lead to not only enrich their families but also help people in the village. Party member Sam Thi Khuyen is one of the few artisans who still maintains the profession and has actively taught local residents to do the same. Over the past many years, she has taught about 70 women in Hoa Tien village the craft of brocade weaving. "Each year, after deducting expenses, the profit from brocade products gives my family an average income of 60-70 million VND," said Mr. Luong Trung Thay (Mrs. Khuyen's husband). Thanks to this income, Party member Thay's family of 7 has a comfortable life and their children are fully educated. Currently, her 2 children are studying at universities in Hanoi.

Currently, Hoa Tien branded brocade weaving has a fairly solid position in the domestic market. Seeing the effectiveness, people have established two brocade weaving cooperatives: the brocade craft village cooperative and the Hoa Tien brocade weaving cooperative to help each other exchange techniques and expand the market for products. Two product showrooms were also established in Chau Tien to introduce products to visitors and shoppers. The results achieved have helped the local government have a basis to affirm that Chau Tien people can live, even get rich with the traditional profession left by their ancestors. Secretary of the Party Committee of Luong Tien Sinh commune said: "In the process of building a new countryside, the Party Committee has calculated to both complete the targets and ensure the space of the ancient Thai village in Hoa Tien, as well as have a plan to strongly develop the traditional weaving profession. From there, the goal is to move Chau Tien countryside to a new countryside with a modern and spacious appearance mixed with traditional cultural and material values".

As one of the key units selected for new rural construction in Quy Chau district, although the implementation period is not long, Chau Tien has achieved 7/19 criteria. The Party Committee and the commune government are determined to complete the new rural construction by 2015. And, with the close leadership of the Party Committees at all levels, most recently the Commune Party Committee and the local government, and the enthusiasm and exemplary leadership of the collective of 176 Party members in the Party Committee, we believe that the goal of completing the new rural construction in the "capital" of Muong Chieng Ngam will be reached on time.
