Comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the SCFP and SE chaired the conference.
In 2011, the North Central region was affected by 5 storms and 1 tropical depression. To proactively cope with storms and floods, Nghe An has well implemented preparations, emergency response and damage recovery with high professional capacity, ensuring good 24/24h duty during the rainy and stormy season. Directed to ensure the progress of key flood prevention projects, well implemented evacuation, overcoming consequences, search and rescue, limiting human and property damage.

The conference also pointed out some shortcomings and limitations such as the poor implementation of the "4 on-site" motto by some units and localities, the work of directing, coordinating, mobilizing forces and means is sometimes not really synchronous, the management of boats and means is not serious, the work of handling encroachment on the protection corridor of irrigation and traffic works is not timely...
Regarding the 2012 flood and storm prevention and control tasks, comrade Dinh Viet Hong requested that localities and units, based on their assigned functions, proactively develop a specific 2012 flood and storm prevention and control plan following the motto "4 on-site", with the spirit of self-rescue as the main focus, promoting internal capacity, coordinating forces, organizations and the entire population to do a good job of flood and storm prevention and control, quickly resolving incidents and damages caused by storms, floods, natural disasters, and overcoming subjective and dependent thinking.
On this occasion, 3 units and 6 individuals were commended by the Central Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control, 17 groups and 15 individuals were commended by the Provincial People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in disaster prevention and control and search and rescue in 2012, and 3 individuals were commended by the Provincial People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in disaster prevention and control and search and rescue.
