(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, July 6, under the chairmanship of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Provincial Agricultural Competitiveness Project Management Board held a conference to promote trade in agricultural products.
Attending the conference were representatives of the Provincial Party Committee Office, People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, leaders of the Department of Science and Technology, Department of Finance, Department of Planning and Investment, Department of Industry and Trade, People's Committees of 20 communes and towns, and companies and agricultural business units in the province.

The conference evaluated the results of production, collection, processing and consumption of key agricultural products of the province during the period from 2006 to 2011. Up to now, Nghe An province has more than 250 thousand hectares of agricultural land, 192 hectares of annual crop land and 60 thousand hectares of perennial crop land. The productivity of many crops has doubled compared to 10 years ago and has remained stable for the past 5 years. The advantageous agricultural products have affirmed their strengths in terms of quantity and variety to serve domestic consumption and export, especially rice, corn, sugarcane, rubber and tea... However, the picture of production, collection, consumption and processing as well as export of agricultural products still reveals many limitations: fragmented area, small product volume, low quality, high product cost, narrow and unstable consumption market, export goods still depend on goods from other provinces.
After the presentations of Nghia Dan, Dien Chau, Yen Thanh districts and 2 private enterprises Sy Thang and Vinh Hoa, Mr. Nguyen Van Lap - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development emphasized: in order for agricultural products to have competitive advantages in the market, it is necessary to focus on 6 main solutions: pay attention to developing planning for agricultural products depending on the period and year, pay attention to investing in infrastructure for production, applying scientific and technological advances, pay attention to building brands for products such as Nghe An rice, Dien Chau peanuts... connecting businesses with farmers, linking with farmers, linking production, processing and consumption, especially policies to pay attention to investing in expanding the market and building agricultural product brands.
