Building a regular, elite, modern Navy Region 1

(Baonghean) - After the great victory of the resistance war against the US to save the country, to firmly manage and protect the sea and islands of the unified Vietnam, on October 26, 1975, the Ministry of National Defense decided to establish 5 coastal regions: Region 1, Region 2, Region 3, Region 4, Region 5 under the Navy Command. Accordingly, Region 1 is responsible for managing the sea area from Mong Cai to the Day River mouth. 3 years later, on October 27, 1978, the Ministry of National Defense decided to adjust the forces of 5 coastal regions and Cam Ranh base into 4 Navy regions.

In which, Naval Region 1 was established on the basis of predecessor units that fought bravely, contributing to the victory of the first battle (August 2 and 5, 1964); together with the army and people of the North, defeated two escalating destructive wars of the US; played the core role in defeating the blockade of the rivers and seas in the North by mines and magnetic bombs of the US imperialists; participated in the fight to protect the southwestern sea and performed international duties in Cambodia... Naval Region 1 was assigned the task of managing and protecting the sea area from the Vietnam - China border to Ngang Pass (Ha Tinh) with bases in Ha Long and Hai Phong.

Over 40 years of construction, striving and growth, under the leadership of the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, and regularly and directly the Party Committee and the Command of the Navy; the close coordination and cooperation of friendly units; the love, care and support of local Party committees, authorities and people. Generations of officers, soldiers, professional soldiers, defense workers and civil servants of Naval Region 1 have always upheld the spirit of revolution, solidarity and unity, overcome all difficulties and hardships, and excellently completed assigned tasks, focusing on firmly managing and protecting assigned sea areas, creating favorable conditions for our Party and State in negotiating the delimitation of the Gulf of Tonkin; participating in the struggle to protect the sea area of ​​the Gulf of Tonkin, the Truong Sa archipelago and the southern continental shelf; proactively taking the lead in researching and proposing the organization of training and tactical exercises in the comprehensive cycle, and confrontation exercises; Organize movements, competitions, sports events, build "point" models in terms of staff, politics, logistics, and technology; receive and master new weapons and technical equipment; build an increasingly developed, revolutionary, standardized, elite, and modern Region.

With its outstanding achievements and feats, Naval Region 1 has been honored to receive 5 medals of various types from the Party and State; the Region has 7 units recognized as Heroic Units of the People's Armed Forces, and many collectives and individuals have been awarded noble prizes. With their intelligence, sweat and efforts, generations of officers and soldiers of Naval Region 1 have built the tradition of "Solidarity, discipline, overcoming difficulties, mastering the sea, determined to fight, determined to win".

In the current new stage, the entire Region is required to continue to thoroughly grasp, promote and multiply the glorious tradition, focusing on successfully carrying out the key tasks of the unit. First of all, it is necessary to focus on building a politically strong unit as a basis for improving overall quality, level and combat readiness.

Continue to do well in political and ideological work, attach importance to thoroughly grasping and educating the Party's directives and resolutions, especially the Resolution of the 8th Central Committee (11th term) on "Strategy for protecting the Fatherland in the new situation". Deeply educate about traditions as well as the application, promotion and elevation of traditions and experiences. Promote the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's moral example in conjunction with the campaign "Promoting traditions, dedicating talents, worthy of the title of Uncle Ho's soldiers - Navy soldiers", contributing to building and consolidating firm belief, absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland, the people and the socialist regime, having good awareness, responsibility and high determination, ready to accept tasks, ready to fight and sacrifice to firmly protect the sovereignty of the sea, islands and continental shelf of the Fatherland.

Continuously improve the level, combat readiness and combat strength, manage and firmly protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland, focusing on constantly innovating and improving the quality of observation, grasping and managing the situation of the sea, advising superiors to promptly and effectively handle situations. Strictly maintain combat-ready forces and means, ensuring synchronization according to plans. Ready to maneuver, master situations, excellently complete assigned tasks...; ready to support all directions and forces of the Service; effectively protect our maritime economic activities; actively participate in storm and flood prevention and control, natural disaster mitigation, rescue and relief... Improve the effectiveness of joint patrol activities with the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy, contributing to building a peaceful, friendly and developed sea.

Actively innovate to improve the quality of training, especially training in receiving and effectively using new and modern weapons and equipment, meeting the requirements of the tasks and development of the Region. Continue training according to the motto "basic, practical, solid", break through into "basic - mastering technical weapons and equipment and implementing safety rules" training, training close to the plan, combat objects, battlefields, organization, existing and future technical weapons and equipment. Take the task of protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands, building a "revolutionary, disciplined, elite, modern" Region as the training goal. Link combat training with regular construction, discipline training and safety assurance work. Innovate the content, organization of competitions, sports, and training inspection methods to contribute to improving the quality of training for the subjects. Focus on promoting internal strength combined with effectively using investment resources from above, well organizing logistics and technical work to meet the requirements of tasks, focusing on combat readiness, management, and firmly protecting assigned sea areas. Innovate and improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of party organizations and the quality of cadres and party members, ensuring sufficient leadership for the unit to successfully carry out all assigned tasks.

Proud of the glorious 40-year journey of building, fighting, winning and growing, the officers, soldiers, professional soldiers, defense workers and civil servants of Naval Region 1 today continue to promote tradition, constantly train their will and mettle, cultivate the qualities and abilities of the soldiers, defense workers and civil servants of the Region and the Navy, determined to firmly manage and protect the sovereignty of the sacred sea, islands and continental shelf of the Fatherland, worthy of the trust and love of the Party, State, Army, Service and people.
