(Baonghean.vn) - Despite having its cargo bed cut off, the HoWo truck driver reattached the cut section and continued driving, but was apprehended by inspectors.

On the afternoon of November 7th, on Mai Hac De Street in Vinh City, inspectors from the Nghe An Department of Transport apprehended a HoWo truck. Notably, this truck had recently had its cargo bed cut down, but the owner had reattached it to continue operating.

The vehicle with license plate 37C 08422 was seized this afternoon.

According to Mr. Phan Huy Chuong, Deputy Chief Inspector of Traffic, the vehicle with license plate 37C 08422 belongs to Ngoc Han Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company, headquartered in Nghi Duc commune, Vinh city, and was driven by Nguyen Huu Ty (30 years old), residing in Dien Chau district. When apprehended, driver Ty insisted that the vehicle had been involved in an accident a month prior and had only recently been released from temporary detention, so the cargo bed hadn't been cut yet, and that the vehicle's cargo bed had never been cut before.

However, the Department of Transportation inspectors concluded that the vehicle's extended cargo bed had been forced to be cut down a few months ago, and the owner had only recently reattached it, with the seams still very fresh. The original height of the cargo bed was 0.6m, but the owner has now extended it to 1.5m.

"In this case, an administrative violation report will be drawn up, requiring the vehicle to be restored to its original dimensions, and the vehicle inspection sticker and road maintenance fund sticker will be confiscated," said Mr. Phan Huy Chuong.

According to the Deputy Chief Inspector, this is the first case in Nghe An province where a vehicle with an illegally modified cargo bed, after having the modifications removed, was discovered and seized for circulation.

Earlier on November 3rd in Nghe An, for the first time, the Vietnam Road Administration, in coordination with the People's Committee of Nghe An province, organized a signing ceremony for a commitment not to overload vehicles with goods exceeding the permitted weight limit for key cargo units and transport businesses.
