Car season is bustling, many new models are launched
Registration fees in the two major cities of Hanoi and Da Nang have been reduced to 12% and 10%, along with consumer confidence and psychology gradually recovering... these are the reasons why car manufacturers have introduced many new models, expecting to increase sales in the last months of the year.
In preparation for the busiest car sales season of the year, car manufacturers are continuously launching new models. Not to mention, in the near future, the car market will have the presence of new names.
Mr. Jesus Metelo Arias, Chairman of the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), said that the car market is showing positive signs, as in the past 3 consecutive months, car consumption has increased significantly compared to the same period last year.
It is forecasted that 112,000 cars will be sold in Vietnam.
Specifically, total automobile sales in the entire market in May 2013 reached 9,731 vehicles, up 11% compared to April and up 42% compared to the same period last year. In June, total market sales reached 9,700 vehicles, up 48% compared to the same period in 2012…
It is easy to see that the domestic automobile market is more exciting now, when importers and familiar names such as Toyota, Honda, Truong Hai, GM Vietnam... continuously "launch" new car models, such as Chevrolet Cruze 2013 version, Honda City, Nissan Sunny...
In addition, there are also luxury car brands such as Rolls-Royce, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Lexus or Bentley...
In July alone, the market welcomed a series of completely new Mercedes-Benz models, including the S-Class and E-Class 2014 models (E-Class 2014 has 4 versions: E200, E250, E400 and E400 AMG), contributing to making the car market more vibrant.
Also in July, the BMW Z4 convertible with a retail price of VND 2.378 billion was introduced to the Vietnamese market by the official importer and distributor Euro Auto.
In a famous event, the Mercedes-Benz Fascination 2013 Car Exhibition in Hanoi, which took place at the end of July 2013, in just 5 days, Mercedes-Benz attracted 15,000 visitors and sold 100 cars, including the GLK, A-Class, and E-Class lines.

In another move, distributor Euro Auto said that next September, the first four car models of the German Mini brand will officially be available in the Vietnamese market.
The quartet includes the Cooper, Cooper S, Countryman and Countryman S. Mini is a car brand owned by BMW, after the German car company acquired the Rover Group in 1994.
Distributor Euro Auto said that the first Mini sales and service center will also be operational by the end of 2013 to serve customers in Vietnam.
Currently, Mini is produced in many places around the world, such as England, Australia, Belgium, Chile, Italy, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Uruguay, Venezuela….
Figures from the General Statistics Office show that in June 2013, 4,000 cars were imported, with a total value of 61 million USD. In the first 7 months of the year, the total number of imported cars reached over 20,000, worth 369 million USD.
According to VAMA's forecast, the overall result of the whole market in 2013 will be able to reach 112,000 vehicles or higher after the Government and localities reduce fees in advance.
