Will I be fined for riding a motorbike with only one mirror?
According to QCVN 28:2010/BGTVT, rearview mirrors are components designed for observing the rear to ensure safety when operating a vehicle.
However, in reality, many people don't take installing mirrors on their motorcycles seriously or only install one. So, is installing only one rearview mirror punishable by law?
According to Point a, Clause 1, Article 17 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, a fine of VND 100,000 to VND 200,000 will be imposed on motorcyclists who do not have a left rearview mirror or who have one but it is not functional.

Therefore, if a motorbike only has one mirror, and that mirror is on the left side, it will not be fined. Conversely, if it only has one mirror, and that mirror is on the right side, it will be fined according to Point a, Clause 1, Article 17 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, with a fine ranging from 100,000 VND to 200,000 VND.
Rearview mirrors installed on vehicles must meet the requirements stipulated in QCVN 28:2010/BGTVT, such as:
All mirrors must be adjustable to provide a field of view.
The edge of the mirror's reflective surface must lie within the protective housing (mirror base), and the edge of the protective housing must have a radius of curvature “c” of not less than 2.5 mm at every point and in every direction. If the reflective surface protrudes from the protective housing, the radius of curvature “c” of the edge of the protrusion must not be less than 2.5 mm and must be able to move inward into the protective housing when a force of 50 N is applied to the outermost point of the largest protrusion relative to the protective housing in a direction perpendicular to the mirror's reflective surface.
All parts of the mirror must have a radius of curvature “c” of not less than 2.5 mm.
The edges of mounting holes or recesses with a width less than 12mm do not need to comply with the radius requirements, but the sharp edges must be blunted.
Parts of rearview mirrors made of materials with a hardness not exceeding 60 Shore A are not subject to the requirements stated in 2.1.2 and 2.1.3 of QCVN 28:2010/BGTVT.
