It is likely that the low-cost car brand Tata Nano from India will soon officially appear in the Vietnamese market.

Khả năng Tata Nano được lắp ráp trong nước thay vì nhập khẩu nguyên chiếc nhằm hạ thấp giá thành là khá cao.
The possibility of Tata Nano being assembled domestically instead of imported completely to lower the cost is quite high.

This information was mentioned again when recently, TMT Automobile Joint Stock Company announced the recruitment of additional key positions such as sales director, after-sales service director, marketing director, communications officer, etc.

The announcement posted on TMT's official website clearly states that the recruitment is aimed at "bringing Tata Group products to Vietnam as soon as possible to serve consumers."

In the 2013 annual report of TMT, it was also stated that one of the important plans to be implemented in 2014 assigned by the Board of Directors to the Board of Directors was to "complete procedures to request the People's Committee of Hung Yen province to grant an additional land area of about 20 hectares of the dry port adjacent to the Cuu Long automobile factory to expand production when implementing comprehensive cooperation with the Tata Group".

Also in this report, TMT said it is quickly negotiating and signing a contract with Tata to produce passenger cars with global brands, provide warranty services and transfer technology to produce and assemble CKD cars.

In 2009, Tata - an Indian industrial group - introduced the Tata Nano model to the world market with a price range of 2,500 - 5,000 USD. As the cheapest car at that time, Tata Nano more or less created a fever in some markets around the world.

In 2012, TMT also imported a number of Tata Nano cars to Vietnam to test the market. During this time, the company, a member of the Vietnam Automobile Industry Group (Vinamotor), informed its dealer network about its plan to distribute the car model that was still the cheapest in the world at that time.

However, later, on October 31, 2012, TMT sent a notice to change the meeting time to introduce the Tata Nano car line with the reason that "due to the impact of the storm, the ship transporting the display car could not arrive at the Vietnamese port as scheduled".

For most consumers, the presence of low-cost cars on the market is always good news because for a long time, the retail price of cars in Vietnam has always been among the highest in the world. However, at the time when the news of Tata Nano being brought to Vietnam broke, there were many concerns that the selling price would not be cheap due to the impact of tax policy.

Therefore, the possibility that TMT will assemble domestically (CKD) instead of importing the complete Tata Nano to lower the cost is quite high.
