The Mercedes-Benz Actros is the world's first self-driving truck. Equipped with an intelligent steering system, the vehicle can travel 14 km on the road without the help of a driver, even if the driver is still present in the vehicle.
With a smart system including radar, cameras and speed controller, the car had a perfect trip from Stuttgart airport to the city of Denkendorf.According to Daimler, the car drives in the correct lane and always keeps a safe distance from the car in front at a speed of 80 km/h.
In case of human driver and encountering bad weather or road damage, the vehicle system will warn with audio and visual signals. If for some reason the driver does not react, the vehicle will automatically stop.
In addition, thanks to optimized moving, accelerating and braking equipment, the car reduces carbon emissions into the environment.
