According to the General Department of Customs, in June, 3,356 completely built-up cars of all types were registered for customs declaration to be imported into Vietnam, an increase of 45.6% compared to the previous month;worth more than 82 million USD.Of which, cars originating from Thailand were imported the most with 2,917 cars of all kinds, accounting for 87% of the total number of cars imported by businesses in June. After many months of stagnation due to the strict regulations of Decree 116, more complete cars from the US, Japan, Germany... were imported in June, 123 and 99 cars respectively. On average, each imported US car has a customs declaration price (excluding taxes and fees) of more than 770 million VND, while cars from Japan are about 450 million VND each.

According to the customs agency, the cars registered for import last month were mainly vehicles with 9 seats or less, accounting for 53%, and trucks 44%, while specialized vehicles accounted for about 3%. The customs agency did not record any cars with more than 9 seats registered for import in June.
Specifically, businesses have registered to import 1,771 cars with less than 9 seats, worth 40.4 million USD, with an average customs declaration price of nearly 230 million VND per car; 1,479 trucks, worth 29.1 million USD...
In addition to complete cars of all kinds, businesses also imported auto parts worth 163.3 million USD, an average of more than 40 million USD per week.
Thus, "overcoming" the strict regulations in Decree 116, completely built-up cars have begun to be imported by businesses in greater numbers.The number of imported cars is better than in previous months, but overall in the first half of the year, imported cars still decreased by nearly 76% compared to the same period in 2017, when there were only12,380 cars were imported, worth 329 million USD.
