Thai cars return to Vietnam after a week of absence
Last week, cars from Thailand dominated the imported car market with 473 units, accounting for 85%.
According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs from May 4 to 10, 746 completely built-up cars of all kinds were registered for import customs declarations, with a total value of 21.6 million USD.

Of which, vehicles with 9 seats or less accounted for the majority with 554 vehicles, equivalent to nearly 14 million USD, imported through ports in Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong and Da Nang.
There were 473 cars imported from Thailand alone, accounting for more than 85%. Thus, since the beginning of the year, Vietnam has imported more than 5,000 cars from this market.Meanwhile, no more cars were imported from Mexico, despite dominating the number last week with 52 cars.

In addition to cars, Vietnam also imported 62 trucks, worth more than 1 million USD. Of these, 61 were from Thailand and 1 from Korea. All of these were registered for import declaration at Ho Chi Minh City port.
In addition, the General Department of Customs said that Vietnam also imported 43.6 million USD worth of auto parts and components of all kinds. Five markets including Japan, China, Thailand, Indonesia and Germany accounted for 84% of the import value. According to the agency, Vietnamese enterprises imported 6,753 cars of all kinds by the end of April. However, this figure was only 20% of the number of cars imported in the same period last year.
