(Baonghean.vn) - From February 10 to 12, the Council for considering the reduction of prison sentences of the People's Court of Nghe An province held a meeting to consider the reduction of prison sentences for prisoners being reformed at Prison Camp No. 3, Prison Camp No. 6 under the General Department VIII - Ministry of Public Security located in Nghe An province and the Detention Camp of Nghe An Provincial Police.
During this period, the prisons requested the Court to consider reducing the prison terms for 1,514 prisoners. The Council reviewed and decided to reduce the remaining prison terms for 275 prisoners, reducing from 3 months to 24 months of prison for 1,204 prisoners.
The cases in which the Council decided to reduce the prison sentence term were all prisoners who had served enough time according to the law, had made much progress, did not violate the regime and regulations of the Prison, and were classified as having good or fair rehabilitation. The Council had closely reviewed the case files for sentence reduction, following the procedures prescribed by law.
Sentence reduction and early release demonstrate the humane and lenient policy of the Party and State towards prisoners who repent, reform and have a good work and reform process. Through this, prisoners who are being reformed and serving their sentences are encouraged to study hard, practice, and reform well in order to have their sentences reduced, return to their families soon, and reintegrate into the community.
