(Baonghean.vn) -In response to the situation of dried apricots being discovered to contain lead and banned substances in some provinces, the Food Safety and Hygiene Department of Nghe An province has just taken 4 samples of dried apricots sold in front of Le Mao Primary School, Hecman School and Vinh Market for testing.

The results showed that all four samples had lead levels 50 to 60 times higher than the permitted limit, especially the sweet peach jam of Viet Hung production and trading facility, which exceeded 224 times; One sample used Cyclamat sugar, a sweetener on the list of banned substances for food processing by the Ministry of Health.

According to medical experts, consuming a lot of lead-contaminated dried apricot products will have a huge impact on the body, especially the digestive system: loss of appetite, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, constipation, jaundice, little urine, even anuria. If the poisoning is severe, it will cause liver failure, kidney failure... leading to death.

Therefore, to protect the health of yourself, your family, and people when buying and using food, you need to carefully check the label, clear origin, expiration date, food ingredients, and especially when buying dried apricots.
