Public trial of drug cases

(Baonghean.vn)- On September 24, Nghia Dan District People's Court held 3 public trials of 5 cases of "Illegal drug trafficking".

Defendants Bui Viet Hung and Bui Viet Thuan in court

Defendants Cao Xuan Loc and Pham Van Chuong, residing in Khe Bai hamlet, Nghia Hoi commune, Nghia Dan district; defendants Bui Viet Hung, residing in Dong Hung hamlet, Nghia My commune, Thai Hoa town and Bui Viet Thuan, residing in hamlet 5B, Nghia Thuan commune, Thai Hoa town; defendant Le Van Hoan, residing in Nghia Minh commune, Nghia Dan district, were all prosecuted for the crime of "Illegal trading of narcotics" as prescribed in Clause 1, Article 194 of the Penal Code.

Based on the evidence, documents examined, and the results of the debate at the trial, applying the articles and clauses of the Penal Code, the People's Court of Nghia Dan district sentenced defendant Cao Xuan Loc to 24 months in prison; defendant Pham Van Chuong to 25 months in prison; defendant Bui Viet Hung to 26 months in prison; defendant Bui Viet Thuan to 25 months in prison and defendant Le Van Hoan to 24 months in prison.

These are appropriate sentences for those who illegally use drugs, causing negative impacts on local security and order. The cases were brought to public trial to propagate and educate the people about the law, contributing to improving the effectiveness of the fight against crime and social evils in the area./.
