First instance trial of the case of causing disturbance and resisting law enforcement officers at Thai Duong pig farm
(Baonghean.vn) -On June 13 and 14, the People's Court of Do Luong District (Nghe An) opened a first-instance trial for the case of "disturbing public order and resisting officials on duty" against 14 defendants from Dai Son commune at Thai Duong Foreign Pig Breeding Company Limited.
According to the indictment: due to frustration over the situation of the Thai Duong Foreign Pig Breeding Company (located in Hamlet 9, Dai Son Commune, Do Luong) causing environmental pollution but being slow to fix it, from November 12, 2011 to January 1, 2012, extremists (all from Dai Son Commune) incited many people to go to this Company to destroy and steal property, inciting people to resist the law enforcement force.
The trial has the most defendants in this locality.
The panel sentenced the defendants: Nguyen Van Hong, Nguyen Viet Thong, Dang Ba Hai, Vo Van Dung and Nguyen Trong Lam for disturbing public order and resisting law enforcement officers to 18 months in prison each, but with a suspended sentence. The defendants: Nguyen Van Quyen and Nguyen Van Duyen to 24 months and 21 months in prison, respectively, with a suspended sentence for disturbing public order. The defendants Nguyen Van Hue, Chu Quang Duong, Duong Duc Hoa, Dinh Van Hoa, Tran Van Huong, Dang Ba Hai to 16 months of non-custodial reform, and Nguyen Van Nhu to 13 months of non-custodial reform for disturbing public order. Because the sentence was to be served from the date of detention, the defendants were released immediately in court. The trial ended with the consensus and support of the majority of the people attending, and had a deterrent and educational effect.
