Heartbreaking story of 28-month-old girl with congenital heart disease
(Baonghean.vn) - Although only 28 months old, Pham Quynh Tram, daughter of Pham Ngoc Lap and Duong Thi Toan in Hamlet 7, Quynh My Commune, Quynh Luu District, has to endure pain, fever, and convulsions every day due to congenital heart disease and brain calcification.
After marrying Mr. Lap, Ms. Toan welcomed her first child, Pham Quynh Tram, in June 2015. Seeing the baby plump, white and healthy, the couple and their relatives were very happy.

The family thought that the joy and happiness of having a baby would increase, but after the first 6 months, the baby's mental and physical development was slow. During a viral fever, the couple took Tram to the Quynh My commune health station for examination. There, the doctor diagnosed her with heart defect 4.
For more accurate results, the couple took Tram to Hanoi for a general examination. The doctor concluded that she had a congenital heart disease, poor eyesight, deafness in her left ear, and brain calcification, requiring brain surgery and stem cell transplantation.
Holding the results in their hands, the couple felt completely devastated. Although the baby is only 28 months old, he has undergone two surgeries at a cost of 200 million VND, not to mention the cost of medicine.

Ms. Toan said: because she has no job, her grandparents' income only depends on a few plots of agricultural land, and her father works as a construction worker. Since the child got sick, the cost of treatment for the child has been a heavy burden on the husband's shoulders. However, Mr. Lap's salary is not worth much. Therefore, to have money for travel, medicine, and surgery, the family had to mortgage the house book to borrow from the bank. The economy is gradually exhausted, so what she worries most now is not knowing where to get money for the next surgeries to treat her child.
Looking at the baby lying on the hospital bed, no one could help but feel sorry for him. His hands and feet were cramped, his fever was constant, and his breathing was labored because of the pain.
Sympathizing with the family's situation, the Red Cross Association of Quynh My commune mobilized members to donate 17 million VND to help the family ease their difficulties.
