Heartbreaking scene of three orphaned sisters
(Baonghean.vn) - In June 2014, Can Van Duong in Nhan Tai village, Cam Son commune (Anh Son) passed away while working as a laborer in Laos. Not long after, unable to bear the hardship, his mother Lo Thi Hoa also left, leaving behind a group of young children without a place to depend on. At the age of schooling, the three sisters Can Thi Duyen (born 2002), Can Van Huy (born 2007) and Can Van Hung (born 2008) soon had to suffer loneliness. Their future is becoming uncertain.

Three children lived in an old house with no valuables. |
The small, shabby house of the three sisters Duyen, without the guidance of their mother and the education of their father, became moldy and dilapidated, with a mess of blankets, clothes, and books inside. Only Huy and Hoang were at home, Duyen was fetching water from a neighbor's house to cook. Duyen said: "Our house doesn't have a well, so every day I have to fetch water to cook, and when it's time to take a bath, it's very miserable."

As the eldest sister, Duyen has to take care of all the housework. |
Although she is at the age of not having enough to eat and not having enough to worry about, Can Thi Duyen still tries to take care of her two younger siblings. Every day, the three sisters go to the fields to catch crabs to sell to earn a living. If they have a lot of food, they get 15,000 VND, if they have a little, they get 5-7 thousand VND. Duyen said: I love my two younger siblings very much. It has been a long time since we have known the taste of meat. Having rice to cook and eat is enough, so the three of us do not dare to dream too much. The new school year has come. I have dropped out of school for 2 years now. The two younger siblings are lucky to have bags and books bought by everyone, but they do not even have a desk. At night, they have to lie on the bed and study hard.
Ms. Dang Thi Ly, a neighbor of the three Duyen sisters, said: "Currently, the three Duyen sisters have to support themselves. Rice is donated by the Commune People's Committee and everyone else. There is almost no food, and vegetables are asked from people around the village. Since their mother left, the villagers have often come to encourage and visit the children. But in the long run, the children are still too young, so they need the attention of the whole community to overcome this difficulty."

Children at risk of dropping out of school |
Sharing about the situation of the three Duyen brothers, Mr. Ngan Van Tinh - Secretary of the Nhan Tai village Party cell, Cam Son commune said: "The family of the three children has been a poor household in the village for a long time. Due to difficult circumstances, Duyen had to drop out of school for the past 2 years, Huy and Hoang go to school thanks to the support of the government and the people. Our village is very poor, we cannot give them much, so we hope everyone will help them."
As we parted ways, Duyen held my hand and said with a bitter voice, “Our situation is very difficult, we don’t know who to rely on, now we just hope to go to school so that we can have a job to support ourselves in the future.” Hearing the wish from the bottom of the heart of a naive child made my heart heavy. Without the caring hands of a mother and the protection of a father, I wonder where the future of Duyen and her three sisters will go?
