Responding to questions from some reporters about solutions to suppress the crime of illegal bank takeovers, Minister and Head of the Government Office Vu Duc Dam said that Vietnamese law currently does not have precise regulations on the crime of illegal bank takeovers, but there are crimes of illegal business and speculation. These crimes can all be aimed at illegal bank takeovers. Banks are the lifeblood of the economy.

One of the causes of the recent economic instability is the weak banking system. Therefore, one of the three restructuring steps that need attention is banking restructuring. To ensure the healthy development of the economy, this task must be given top priority.

According to Minister and Head of the Government Office Vu Duc Dam, before Mr. Nguyen Duc Kien was arrested, the Prime Minister had directed functional agencies from the inspection to the investigation agencies to place important tasks on the group of banking and credit crimes, especially acts aimed at illegally acquiring banks.

Regarding the arrest of Mr. Duong Chi Dung, Minister and Head of the Government Office Vu Duc Dam said that the investigation, prosecution and application of special preventive measures against Mr. Duong Chi Dung were all directed in accordance with the law.

The Prime Minister has closely directed this case from the beginning. When the decision to prosecute the accused and apply special preventive measures was issued, the implementation of the plan was not strict, so Mr. Duong Chi Dung fled. The police agency called for his surrender and then issued a domestic and international arrest warrant. Mr. Dung has now been arrested.
