Thoroughly handle waste generated in the area during Lunar New Year
On January 9, 2025, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee issued Document No. 199/UBND-NN to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment directing to strengthen the control and strict monitoring of waste sources, ensuring environmental sanitation during the Lunar New Year.
Accordingly, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to urgently review and organize the implementation of tasks according to the guidance and direction of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
Specifically, in Document No. 68/BTNMT dated January 3, 2025, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment directed the People's Committees of the provinces to properly implement the following contents:
Arrange and organize forces to promptly receive and process information, proactively prevent and mobilize resources to quickly and effectively handle and remedy environmental pollution (if any); promptly report to specialized agencies to respond to related incidents (prevention and control of fires, explosions, chemicals, oil spills, transportation of dangerous goods, etc.) and coordinate in response, remedy and damage minimization in case of incidents.
Continue to maintain, continuously and effectively operate waste treatment systems and facilities, ensuring that treatment meets national technical standards on the environment; strengthen inspection, examination, control and close supervision of projects and facilities at risk of causing environmental pollution, especially large waste sources or facilities at risk of causing waste incidents or environmental incidents; proactively monitor and closely supervise projects and facilities at risk of causing environmental pollution through automatic and continuous wastewater and emission monitoring systems and other appropriate measures.

Organize the implementation of plans to collect, store, transport and thoroughly treat waste generated in the area, especially domestic solid waste in public areas, market areas, concentrated residential areas, cultural tourism areas, entertainment areas and waste at production and business establishments that generate large amounts of waste. Absolutely do not let waste accumulate in urban areas, commercial and residential areas.
