3 companies fined for violating advertising of functional foods
According to information from the Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health), in the first days of 2015, the Department discovered three cases of violations in advertising functional foods.
Based on the detected violations and relevant legal regulations, on January 7, Director of the Food Safety Department Nguyen Thanh Phong issued a decision to administratively sanction three establishments violating regulations on advertising functional foods with a total fine of 65 million VND.
That is Viet Hung Pharmaceutical Company Limited, address: No. 13, Group 9D, Lane 54, Kim Nguu Street, Thanh Nhan Ward, Hanoi.
The above company advertised the functional food product Vieskin Collagen-C capsules on the website Collagenvh.com without having the advertising content confirmed by the competent authority.
The second unit to be penalized is DP ECOFAM Joint Stock Company, address: Phung Khoang Residential Group, Trung Van Ward, Hanoi, for advertising the company's functional foods on the website http://ecofam.vn without the Food Safety Department confirming the advertising content.
The third violating entity is Thien Lo Trading Company Limited, address: 5th Floor, MH Building, 728-730 Vo Van Kiet, Ward 1, District 5, Ho Chi Minh City. The above company advertised the functional food product Vimudium Capsules on leaflets with misleading advertising content that it has the same effect as a medicine.
Along with imposing fines, the Food Safety Department has forced violating establishments to immediately stop their violations, remove illegal advertising content, and make corrections in the media about the incorrect advertising content.
The Food Safety Department has also instructed establishments to comply with legal regulations on ensuring food safety. If the above units continue to advertise in violation of legal regulations, the Department will revoke the validity of the Certificate of Advertising Content/Certificate of Declaration of Compliance with Food Safety Regulations that has been issued./.
