Metro Thang Long fined for selling contaminated squid
The Ministry of Health Inspectorate imposed an administrative penalty on Metro Cash & Carry Thang Long Center for violating food safety regulations.

In order to continue handling violations of food safety regulations at Metro Cash & Carry Thang Long Center (Metro Thang Long) for trading in whole cleaned squid (Manufactured on September 13, 2014, Expiry date: 12 months) containing Salmonela, on April 2, 2015, the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Health issued a Decision to impose an administrative penalty on this facility with a fine of VND 5,831,100; requiring Metro Thang Long to stop the violation and only trade in food products that meet the announced standards.
According to Metro Thang Long's report and through checking the records, the total value of the infringing goods sold and not recovered is 3,887,400 VND. This product was announced, manufactured and distributed by Hai Nam Company Limited at 27 Nguyen Thong, Phu Hai Ward, Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan.
In addition to complying with the penalty decision, Metro Thang Long has notified the entire METRO Vietnam system to stop circulation, recall and destroy the violating shipment. At the same time, the Ministry of Health Inspectorate has notified the Binh Thuan Department of Health to request increased supervision of the above shipment as well as other food products of Hai Nam Company Limited.
