Leaving the country with more than 5,000 USD must be declared.
From September 1, people leaving the country carrying foreign currency cash equivalent to over 5,000 USD or other foreign currencies of equivalent value will have to declare to customs, a reduction of 2,000 USD compared to the current level.
In case of leaving the country with more than 15 million VND, individuals must also declare to customs. That is the content of Circular 15 regulating the carrying of foreign currency cash when leaving and entering the country, which has just been signed and issued by the State Bank.
In this circular, the State Bank also stipulates that in case an individual exits the country carrying foreign currency cash or VND exceeding the prescribed limit but not exceeding the amount brought in, he/she must present to the border customs an exit and entry declaration with confirmation from the border customs about the amount of money brought in when most recently entering the country.
