A new type of Wi-Fi hotspot is designed to steal smartphone users' passwords by detecting hand movements while using the phone.

The technique, dubbed "WindTalker" by security experts, allows hackers to accurately read the movements of users' fingers as they swipe across the phone screen and convert those movements into useful information.

WindTalker is being used very successfully by hackers in China on the Aliplay online payment platform, which is currently available on many smartphone models.

This information prediction technique can achieve an accuracy of up to 81.7%, which is very high. The technique itself does not require any special hardware. Users can easily buy this tool for just a few hundred dollars.

WindTalker is often embedded in public Wi-Fi hotspots, so the risk of revealing user information is very high. Currently, there is no effective way to prevent this password theft method.
