A super typhoon with gusts reaching level 17 has appeared in the East Sea.
According to the Central Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting Center, a very strong storm, internationally named Melor, has formed in the sea east of central Philippines.
At 13:00 on December 13th, the typhoon's center was located at approximately 12.3 degrees North latitude and 129.2 degrees East longitude, about 420km east of the central coast of the Philippines. The strongest winds near the center of the typhoon reached level 13 (135-150 km/h), with gusts of level 16-17.
Forecasts indicate that over the next 24 hours, the storm will move west-northwest at approximately 20 km/h and continue to intensify. By 13:00 on December 14th, the storm's center will be located at approximately 12.8 degrees North latitude and 124.8 degrees East longitude, over the sea east of central Philippines. Maximum wind speeds near the storm's center will increase to level 14-15 (150-185 km/h), with gusts exceeding level 17.

Over the next 48 hours, the storm is likely to change direction slightly, moving westward at approximately 15 km/h. By 13:00 on December 15th, the storm's center will be located at approximately 13.1 degrees North latitude and 121.1 degrees East longitude, over the central Philippines. The strongest winds near the storm's center will decrease to level 12-13 (120-150 km/h), with gusts reaching level 14-15.
Over the next 72 hours, the storm continued to move westward at a speed of approximately 5-10 km per hour.
Meteorological experts warn that this is a very strong storm, with its intensity fluctuating quite erratically; and since it is appearing near the end of the typhoon season, its trajectory is likely to change in the coming days. Therefore, ships operating in the central South China Sea need to closely monitor the storm to take timely preventive measures.
