Pangasius exports decrease sharply
Pangasius exports decreased by nearly 7% over the same period, with an estimated turnover of about 682 million USD.
Since the beginning of the year, the country's seafood export turnover is estimated at about 2.3 billion USD, down nearly 3% over the same period last year.
According to Mr. Truong Dinh Hoe, General Secretary of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, tra fish exports have not been able to grow due to the impact of anti-dumping tax barriers from the US market and difficulties from the European market. It is estimated that by the end of June, the export value of tra fish will reach about 800 million USD.
Mr. Truong Dinh Hoe said: “Pangasius exports are facing many difficulties, especially the decline of key markets, such as the EU market where demand has dropped too sharply; some countries that were previously key importers, such as Spain, the Netherlands, and Germany, have also seen a decline in output; the US market is facing anti-dumping tax issues.
The raw material situation also fluctuated a lot because the export price of pangasius products was not good, so the purchase price of raw materials did not increase, which did not solve the difficulties for farmers. The problem of accessing capital and difficulties in domestic production also had an impact on the pangasius export index in the past six months.
