Agricultural, forestry and fishery exports increased by 33.4% in 7 months
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in July, the estimated export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached 2 billion USD, bringing the total export turnover in the first 7 months of the year to 13.9 billion USD, an increase of 33.4% over the same period in 2010.
Among the main agricultural products, coffee reached the highest price increase, followed by pepper and rubber. Regarding rice, exports in the first 7 months were estimated at 4.7 million tons, with a turnover of 2.3 billion USD, up 9.7% in volume and 10.8% in value.
The Department of Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Product Quality Management (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) said that the Directorate General for Health and Consumer Protection of the European Union (EU) has just officially recognized 2 additional registered enterprises and 28 enterprises changing information in the list of enterprises permitted to process seafood for export to the EU. Thus, the total number of Vietnamese enterprises permitted to process and export seafood to this market has now increased to 380 enterprises.
In the first six months of the year, the country exported 168,000 tons of shrimp and fish to the EU, worth 627 million USD, up 25% over the same period in 2010.
