Seafood exports will reach 6.5 billion USD

VASEP said that seafood export turnover in October 2013 reached about 680 million USD, bringing the total seafood export turnover in the first 10 months of this year to nearly 5.5 billion USD, an increase of 7.3%. Accordingly, shrimp is a rare commodity with a strong increase in export value, mainly white-leg shrimp due to a decrease in world supply, causing shrimp prices to increase.

Specifically, it is estimated that shrimp exports in the first 10 months of the year reached about 2.4 billion USD, up 30% over the same period last year. As for tra fish, export turnover is on a downward trend because global consumption demand has not recovered. In October, tra fish exports decreased by 6%, with export turnover in the first 10 months estimated at 1.43 billion USD, down nearly 2% over the same period last year.

Other seafood products such as tuna, crab, and swimming crab... in October had an estimated export turnover of 99.6 million USD. With this export momentum, VASEP forecasts that seafood exports this year will reach 6.5 billion USD, up 5% compared to 2012.
