Promoting that glorious tradition, the Border Post at Nam Can International Border Gate has been and is making many more achievements, worthy of President Ho Chi Minh's teaching "in competition, we are determined to set the leading flag".
In addition to performing the same functions and tasks as other Border Guard Stations on the Vietnam - Laos border, Nam Can Border Guard Station also has the task of performing state management of entry and exit. Here, the number of goods and people entering and exiting the country every day is quite large. Taking advantage of this feature, bad guys often mix in to illegally transport goods across the border. Therefore, the fight against crime in this area is complicated and full of challenges. Border guards do not hesitate day or night, always on duty 24/7 to silently carry out their duties. The unit's officers and soldiers rarely have days off, and even during major holidays such as the traditional Vietnamese New Year or Lao New Year, the work of officers and soldiers in green uniforms becomes even busier, because the number of people and goods passing through the border gate is increasing.

In addition to the task of firmly protecting the country's borders, the Border Guard force of Nam Can Border Post has actively carried out the campaign for the poor, thereby contributing positively to the socio-economic development along the border. This activity at Nam Can Border Post is linked to the content of studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh. In addition to the orientation of economic development and poverty reduction for the people, officers and soldiers of Nam Can International Border Post have continued to implement many social security programs, notably the "For the Poor" Fund contributed by officers and soldiers of the Post. This fund includes the money for not having breakfast on holidays, small change under five thousand dong each time receiving salary, a part of personal money awarded by all levels, or each time being promoted, having a salary increase, or being transferred to another job, instead of organizing meals, officers and soldiers voluntarily contribute a part to the fund. That spirit of "sharing food and clothes" has contributed to helping poor households in the area overcome immediate difficulties, further strengthening the relationship between the army and the people.
Captain Nguyen Ngoc Cam - Deputy Political Commissar of Nam Can Border Guard Station, said: In order to promote the combined strength in the cause of protecting the sovereignty and security of the Border, the Party Committee - Command of Nam Can Border Guard Station has had a creative way, which is to establish Nam Can Youth Union to connect the youth union members of the branches in the area. The formation of the organization according to the model of the Youth Union has created favorable conditions for the units in the Nam Can border area to come closer together, unite, and perform their tasks well. Through that, the forces have found a common voice in the movement to protect the security of the Fatherland, building the cultural and political life of the border area.
The companionship of Nam Can border guards with the people at the border has actively contributed to building a solid defense position along the country's border. With the work and achievements, Nam Can International Border Post deserves the title of twice heroic unit, the leading flag of Nghe An border guards.
