Whether in the hardships and sacrifices, full of bombs and bullets of war, or in the creative labor of peace, our army always strives to carry out the teachings of beloved Uncle Ho: "Loyal to the Party, filial to the people, ready to fight and sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for socialism. Complete every mission, overcome every difficulty, defeat every enemy"; is the main force that created miracles: the victory of Dien Bien Phu (1954), ending the resistance war against French colonialism and the Great Spring Victory General Offensive (1975) ending the resistance war against the US to save the country, bringing our country back together, the whole country moving towards socialism. The people have called our army by the affectionate name: Uncle Ho's army!
In Nghe An, the birth of Regiment 57 on August 21, 1945 marked an important milestone in the development history of Nghe An Armed Forces. From an armed unit with the structure of a regiment, Nghe An armed forces have continuously grown in quantity and quality, becoming an elite army, fighting well in the two resistance wars against France and the US to save the country. During the resistance war against French colonialism, Nghe An army and people participated in supporting 5 battlefields: Binh Tri Thien, Upper Laos, Central Laos, Lower Laos and Dien Bien Phu. During the years of fighting against the US imperialists' air war of destruction, the militia of Dien Hung commune, Dien Chau district were the first to shoot down an American aircraft with infantry guns. This was an important feat, opening the movement of shooting down aircraft with infantry guns throughout the country. During the time of fighting the Americans to save the country, the army and people of Nghe An provided human and material resources to the Southern battlefield, contributing to the Great Victory of Spring 1975, unifying the country!
In peacetime, in addition to building and training combat readiness, officers and soldiers of Nghe An armed forces have actively participated in rescue, disaster relief, hunger eradication and poverty reduction... In particular, in mountainous areas, the Provincial Military Party Committee has directed and decided to establish grassroots working teams stationed in weak areas to act as a bridge to bring the light of the Party and science and technology to the people. Therefore, in the areas where the working teams are stationed, many villages have quickly risen from being weak to becoming typical strong villages, and the lives of people in difficult areas have improved. In addition, the Provincial Military Party Committee has directed the collection team to perform well the duty of searching for the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives in Laos, contributing to easing the pain of the martyrs' relatives, while honoring the examples of sacrifices who fell for the Independence and Freedom of the nation.
The 67th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 22nd anniversary of the National Defense Day are occasions for us to review the history, glorious traditions, and heroic feats of arms of our Army and people.
