Around choosing a school before the admissions season

(Baonghean) -In recent years, many teachers, especially those with experience in college and university entrance exam preparation, have affirmed that most students who study well and have real abilities go to quality, prestigious schools with a long history of achievements to register for the exam. These are the schools that students are used to calling the top such as Foreign Trade University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, University of Construction, University of Transport, National Economics, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, etc.

However, what surprised us was that this year the students' choice of school has completely changed. Most of them are aiming for schools with easy "output", or do not have to worry about "output" without caring whether that school or major is suitable for their abilities and strengths or not. Why is that situation? Teacher Nguyen Giao Ngoc - a person with experience in reviewing college and university entrance exams in group A shared: "This year, students all have the mentality of registering for exams in military and police schools to have a favorable "output".

Teacher Ho Thi Quang - Head of the Literature Group of Nghi Loc 2 High School also agreed: "Students taking the Social Sciences exam this year are determined to prioritize schools with easy output to prepare their application documents". This is not only the opinion of teachers but also the students when asked. Nguyen Trung Hieu, class 12 A1, Nghi Loc 1 High School frankly expressed his opinion in choosing a school: "This year we will choose to take the exam at military schools to have easy output". Even parents were surprised by their children's decision to choose a school. Mr. Nguyen Dinh Phong, in hamlet 7 - Nghi Long, confided: "2 years ago, I directed my child to take the military exam to help the family avoid financial difficulties. But he refused because he said he had no talent for the military and how could he develop himself there. Seeing his explanation, the family had to let him take the exam at another school. But this year he wants to take the exam to get into military school.

Thus, the fact that students choose to take exams at schools with favorable "output" is probably a basic answer in the current difficult employment situation, with many unemployed graduates. So what are the other reasons? In our opinion, besides the main reason above, there are also some other reasons such as social policies are changing a lot, some professions are gradually saturated with human resources, and the quality of some schools has not made a breakthrough.

In general, universities and colleges, even those in the top group, have not yet attracted students through comprehensive development. I think that, just because of those reasons, it is dangerous to let students "blindly" choose for themselves careers that are not suitable for their abilities and passion. We know that "output" is important and necessary, but is it right that students are willing to give up choosing a school based on their abilities and strengths? And then, where will the careers that need people with real abilities and strengths find people?

The exam day is near, the writer of this article just wants to raise such issues so that teachers, parents can have the right direction for their children. And hopefully, this year's grade 12 students still have time to give themselves the wisest answer for choosing their future.
