Regarding parents preventing their children from going to school in Nghi Thiet commune (Nghi Loc): Education has been invested in
(Baonghean) - Although it is a difficult area, Nghi Thiet is still a land that values education. For many years, the commune's education promotion movement has been evaluated as effective with many diverse activities, and people are always interested in their children's education. Therefore, the fact that some parents prevent their children from going to school is a very surprising thing here.
Talking about education in Nghi Thiet, Mr. Le Trong Dan, Vice Chairman of the Commune's Association for Promotion of Education, shared: The education promotion movement in Nghi Thiet has a long tradition, in hamlets and clans there are funds for education promotion. Every year, the commune organizes a Tet for education promotion and talent promotion to award prizes to excellent students and encourage students in difficult circumstances to excel in their studies. On average, each year, the whole commune has over 100 students being awarded. From this movement and the attention of the people, education in Nghi Thiet has increasingly developed, such as in the 2015-2016 school year, the commune had 25 students admitted to universities and colleges. Among them, many families, despite their difficult circumstances, still try to raise their children to have a full education and have 3-4 children go to university and have stable jobs after graduation, such as the family of war invalid Phan Ngoc Dan (Chua 1 hamlet), the family of Mr. Vu Huu Thuat (Rong hamlet), the family of Mr. Dau Van Tan (Dinh hamlet)... Every year, many children of the commune become successful, organizations and individuals inside and outside the province have enthusiastically supported the commune's education promotion movement; typical examples include Mr. Nguyen Trong Nhuong, currently the General Director of the Eastern Construction Company; Buddhists of Can Linh pagoda...

Playtime of students at Tien - Thiet Secondary School. |
Regarding Tien - Thiet Secondary School, teacher Vo Ngoc Que, the school's principal, proudly said: Compared to many other localities, the economic conditions in Tien - Thiet communes still face many difficulties, but the people, the Party Committee and the government still pay attention to studying. Thanks to that, the quality of teaching and learning at the school is relatively stable. In the 2014 - 2015 school year alone, the school had 32 students recognized as excellent students in all aspects, 100% of students graduated from secondary school; the school had 20 students recognized as excellent students of the province and district, including 1 first prize, 1 second prize and 3 third prizes. Among the students who achieved high prizes, most of them are Nghi Thiet students; a typical example is Tran Dang Hieu (class 6A), first prize in Math at the district level. In other subjects, there are students: Dau Thi My, Pham Thi Quyen, Nguyen Thi Yen (8A), Pham Ngan (8B), Le Thi Thanh, (6C), Nguyen Thi Thuy (7C), Pham Van Luc, Nguyen Thi Ha (7A)...
With such a studious spirit, when the two schools were merged into one in the 2015-2016 school year, no one thought that Nghi Thiet students would drop out. Teacher Vo Ngoc Que shared: In recent years, the size of Nghi Thiet's schools has been decreasing. The whole school has only 8 classes, the facilities are degraded, the teaching conditions and equipment are not enough to meet the requirements and tasks of current teaching, so the merger to improve the overall quality of education is inevitable.
This is not the first time Tien - Thiet schools have merged, but have been separated and merged many times before. There was a time when Nghi Thiet students walked 7 - 8 kilometers to Nghi Tien to study and vice versa. However, in any situation, this is still the most successful school in the Nghi Loc coastal area and from this school, thousands of students have grown up and become successful.
It is also necessary to note that the process of merging Tien-Thiet school took place 6 years ago, during which time, the local government and the school also popularized this policy, the people also agreed to support, in 2014 the school launched a tree planting movement for the new school, many people from the two communes enthusiastically participated. When the new school with 2 high-rise buildings, 18 classrooms was completed and handed over, teachers, students and parents were very excited, actively moving equipment and teaching materials from Nghi Thiet Secondary School to the new Tien-Thiet Secondary School to prepare for the new school year... In fact, the process of building the new Tien-Thiet school also had many contributions from local people. When leveling the ground to build the new school, the people not only did not take any compensation for crops, but also supported many working days to organize the renovation of the campus and construction of the school. Two years ago, people in Nghi Thiet and Nghi Tien communes also organized tree planting, creating green space, preparing for their children's first day of school.
Sharing about this, Mr. Nguyen Van Thong, Head of the Department of Education of Nghi Loc district added: Although the economic conditions of the district are still facing many difficulties, many schools in the area have also seriously degraded, but in order for students of Tien-Thiet school to soon return to study stably at a school, the district has recently prioritized focusing on this school; in which, the investment cost for the basic construction of the new school alone has reached over 15 billion VND. Tien-Thiet Secondary School is also one of the most spacious schools in the district today with a campus of 1.5 hectares.
The excitement about a new school was clearly shown on August 24, 2015 - the first day of the new school year, 100% of secondary school students in Nghi Thiet and Nghi Tien communes went to school. After the September 2 holiday, everything seemed to be going on normally, but on the opening day of the new school year (September 5), unexpectedly 204/320 students at Nghi Thiet Secondary School were absent. These students were mainly from 4 hamlets: Chua 1, Chua 2, Ban hamlet, Rong hamlet... On the morning of September 7, the number of students absent from school increased, and from that day until now, the peak day of absence was 243 students, the lowest day was more than 140 students not going to school. The above incident not only affected the teaching and learning of teachers and students of Tien - Thiet Secondary School, but also disrupted the local order situation...
