Worthy of the old Red Village tradition

(Baonghean) - Immediately after the establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam, 2 months later, the Yen Dung Thuong Communist Party Cell (in Hung Dung Ward, Vinh City today) held a launching ceremony and proposed an action program. Under the leadership of the Communist Party Cell, revolutionary organizations such as the Red Self-Defense Force, Farmers' Association, Youth Union, and Women's Union in Yen Dung Thuong were established. On May 1, 1930, over 1,200 villagers marched to Trung communal house and then, together with thousands of people from Hung Nguyen, Nghi Loc, Vinh City, marched to Truong Thi Factory to coordinate with workers to protest and demand that the feudal colonial government exempt taxes, reduce working hours, and increase wages for workers. During this protest, two sons of the Red Village, Mr. Nguyen Don Nhoan and Mr. Nguyen Duc Tiem, heroically sacrificed themselves before the guns of the colonialists.

A few days later, the Yen Dung Thuong Party Cell organized a rally with the participation of all villagers. Here, responding to the Party's call, the people of Yen Dung Thuong, some small, some large, contributed money and rice to support the workers of Truong Thi - Ben Thuy. At the same time, the villagers encouraged each other to maintain their faith in the Party. It was this faith of the people that gave the Yen Dung Thuong communists strength to continue to consolidate the organization after the fierce repression of the enemy, and then in August 1945, with 7 loyal party members, the cell led the people of Yen Dung Thuong to rise up and join hands with all classes of people of Nghe An to successfully seize power.

Party Secretary of Hung Dung Ward, Nguyen Duc Trung said: With 14 thousand people, Hung Dung's economic structure develops towards commercial services, small-scale industry and agriculture. Currently, nearly 500 households are doing stable service business, attracting over 1,000 workers of all kinds. Since the beginning of 2012, the ward has created jobs for nearly 200 workers. Regarding agriculture, Hung Dung has re-planned suitable areas for producing plants and animals. At the same time, it has created conditions for agricultural households to create new jobs and increase their income. Thanks to that, the number of rich and well-off households has increased while the number of poor and near-poor households has decreased significantly.

Along with the economy, the social culture in the Red village has also achieved many outstanding achievements in the fields of culture and society. In particular, it is impossible not to mention the development results of the education sector with the number of excellent students at all levels and the number of students passing the entrance exams to universities and colleges of Hung Dung always being in the top of the city. In the 2011-2012 school year alone, there were 2 excellent students at the national level, 13 excellent students at the provincial level, and 144 students achieving excellent students at the city level.

Promoting the tradition of the Red Village in the past, the Party Committee of Hung Dung Ward attaches special importance to the work of building the Party and the political system in the area. For many consecutive years, the Party Committee has achieved the title of Clean and Strong Party Committee. In 2011 alone, 24/26 Party cells achieved the title of Clean and Strong, 91% of Party members were qualified to complete their tasks well, and 14% achieved the title of Party members qualified to complete their tasks excellently.

In order to develop sustainably in all aspects, the Party Committee of Hung Dung Ward pays special attention to building and strengthening the Youth Union organization. According to Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dung, Secretary of the Ward Youth Union, in the current situation, maintaining the Youth Union movements is facing many difficulties, but thanks to the innovation of activities, including the measure of educating the tradition of "Red Village", in recent years the Youth Union movement in Hung Dung has gradually changed. In particular, the awareness of striving to join the Party of many members has been raised. In the near future, the Youth Union will introduce and propose the Party to admit outstanding members who have been trained in the past time.

The people of “Red Village” are proud that their hometown once had a steadfast party cell in the “Nghe-Tinh Soviet” movement; the place that “forged” famous communist party members such as Nguyen Sy Que, Nguyen Manh Cam and many other outstanding party members. Now, the people still put their trust in the party cell and in the generation of party members in “Red Village” today.
