Death sentence for foreign drug traffickers
On October 3, the Supreme People's Court of Appeal in Ho Chi Minh City rejected the appeal and upheld the death sentence for Preeyanooch Phuttharaksa (born 1989 - Thai nationality) for the crime of "Illegal transportation of drugs".
Phuttharaksa was sentenced to death for his actions.
According to the indictment, on October 29, 2011, at Tan Son Nhat Airport - Ho Chi Minh City, Phuttharaksa was caught red-handed in the bottom of his suitcase containing 3 bags of white solid substance with a total weight of more than 3,000 grams, which were determined to be drugs. In addition, the defendant also confessed that he had successfully transported drugs into Vietnam twice and for each such shipment, Phuttharaksa received 4,000 Baht and 300 USD from his accomplices.
