British rescue company Britannia has compiled 64 of the most common warning light symbols on car dashboards. Of these, only 12 light symbols are regularly present on all car models.
The number of warning signs is increasing in new car models, notably the Mercedes E class with 41/64 warning lights and some other familiar car models in Vietnam such as Toyota Yaris and Audi A3 28/64, Ford Fiesta 25/64 and BMW Series 3 with 21/64.

Cars in Vietnam currently have an average of 9-12 common warning light symbols on the dashboard. |
Britannia surveyed 2,018 drivers in the UK and came up with some surprising results. 98% of drivers asked could not understand all the meanings of the 64 symbols, more than half (52%) of drivers could only understand 16 out of 64 symbols correctly.
A quarter of them have had at least one or more warning signs light up while driving without them knowing what was happening, most commonly warnings related to the engine light, battery or oil warning.
Nearly half (48%) of drivers surveyed did not even recognise the brake warning light and more than a third (35%) could not understand the airbag warning, with 27% mistaking it for a seat belt warning.
