Yahoo Blog officially closed in Vietnam
January 17 is the last day Yahoo Blog members can access their personal pages.
As announced on December 6, 2012, Yahoo will terminate its blog service in Vietnam after January 17. The company has also provided a tool to download users' content to their computers via the website download.yahoo.com. After clicking the Export button, the content of the article, title, posting time, comments, images... will be compressed by the system and allowed for download. The export process can take up to 72 hours and when completed, Yahoo will send an email with a link for users to download the data.
The tool will provide a file with the extension .exe to help people import content into compatible systems such as Wordpress, Blogger, Movable Type... Besides, there is an HTML file that can be opened with a browser containing all the content of that member's blog.
This download tool expires on March 14, however, Yahoo representatives advise users to export data before March 9 to ensure there is enough time to download and handle problems.
Nowadays, few people still use Yahoo Blog service, but it contains many articles posted by users since the time Yahoo 360 was popular (before 2008). Although they are no longer used, members still want to keep diary pages, good articles, important milestones... as souvenirs. To avoid problems in the process of downloading information, many people have been manually copying articles for the past few days.
