Yen Thanh needs 20 thousand doses of vaccine against blue ear disease

(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, the blue ear disease in pigs in Yen Thanh district has been controlled, however, the locality needs 20,000 doses of vaccine to vaccinate and surround the epidemic area and the threatened epidemic area.

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Que's pig farm in Hamlet 6, Van Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District has 400 pigs, and has so far destroyed 60 pigs infected with blue ear disease. These days, Mr. Que regularly sprays disinfectants and sprinkles lime powder around the barn.

According to the report of the District Veterinary Station, after more than 10 days of the blue ear disease outbreak, the authorities and local government have destroyed 111 pigs, weighing 12 tons.

Immediately after the outbreak of blue ear disease, the provincial Veterinary Department provided 10,000 doses of blue ear disease vaccine for vaccination in communes in epidemic areas, threatened epidemic areas, and high-risk areas, and provided 352 liters of chemicals to spray and disinfect epidemic areas.

In addition, the District People's Committee provided 4 tons of lime powder to each epidemic commune and 1 ton of lime powder to each threatened epidemic commune to suppress the epidemic.

Every day, officers from the District Veterinary Station go to the site to check and monitor the progress of pig diseases.

Up to now, the blue ear disease in pigs in Yen Thanh area has been controlled in 4 outbreaks in 4 communes: Hung Thanh, Nhan Thanh, Van Thanh and Bao Thanh.

Currently, the District Veterinary Station assigns staff to monitor and track disease developments at farms and ranches without waiting for people to report.

However, according to Mr. Nguyen Khac Minh - Head of the District Veterinary Station, there are still some sick pigs in the epidemic areas, which are being monitored. To effectively prevent the blue ear disease, Yen Thanh is in need of 20,000 doses of vaccine to vaccinate epidemic areas, threatened epidemic areas, and high-risk areas./.
