Yen Thanh directs rice pest control
(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, spring rice in Yen Thanh district is in the tillering stage and growing well. However, bad weather is a favorable condition for pests to develop.
According to the report of the District Plant Protection Station, recently, although the rice plants are in the early tillering stage, brown planthoppers, white-backed planthoppers, green aphids, black aphids, etc. have appeared in many places on some areas of Khai Phong and Nhi Uu 986 rice varieties in the communes of Phu Thanh, Nhan Thanh, Long Thanh, Vinh Thanh, etc. Due to the low density of pests, the Plant Protection Station staff consulted with localities to direct and guide farmers to actively take care of the rice when the weather is warm and sunny. At the same time, they continued to monitor the development of pests and diseases to have early prevention solutions, not allowing them to spread widely.
Farmers in Xuan Thanh commune (Yen Thanh) take care of spring rice.
Ms. Tran Thi Hue, a professional officer at the Plant Protection Station of Yen Thanh District, said: Being assigned to be in charge of 7 communes on Route 333, to complete the task well, one person cannot do it alone, so we must coordinate with the commune agricultural extension officers to carry out the work in every way. When detecting symptoms of pest infestation on rice plants, we must report to superiors for timely prevention and control. At the same time, I also advise people on the use of effective pesticides, through the media as well as directly.
At this time, the weather changes continuously, from warm sunshine to cold, so pests and diseases will also develop complicatedly. According to the recommendations of the authorities, warm sunny weather is a condition for planthoppers to develop, the weather turns to cloudy and cold, alternating with sunshine is a condition for rice blast disease to develop. Therefore, the District Plant Protection Station recommends that farmers when the weather warms up, they should increase rice care by applying balanced fertilizers, especially increasing the amount of fertilizer to make the rice plants stronger, increasing the ability to resist pests and diseases. In addition, localities need to coordinate with technical staff in charge of the area, regularly check, monitor, estimate, and accurately forecast pests that are at risk of arising in each locality to have effective and timely solutions for direction and prevention.
Mr. Nguyen Van Trung - Head of Yen Thanh District Plant Protection Station, recommends: Currently, there are many different types of plant protection drugs on the market, so when there is a high density of pests on rice plants, farmers need to follow the advice of technical staff, and at the same time go to reputable plant protection drug stores to buy, avoiding buying drugs that are sold illegally on the market. Currently, the District Plant Protection Station has assigned responsibility to each professional officer in charge of all communes and towns.
