Yen Thanh: Forest fire prevention and fighting drill

(Baonghean.vn) - On June 10, in Bao Thanh commune, the Steering Committee for urgent issues in forest fire prevention and protection in Yen Thanh district organized a drill on forest fire prevention and protection in 2015.

Unlike previous years, this year's drill has many new features, that is, the PCCCR drill is organized on a larger scale with a larger mobilized force, especially more situations to handle are presented, demonstrating the position, role and responsibility of forest owners, hamlet committees, PCCCR Steering Committees at commune and district levels, especially the direct participation of people in forest fire prevention and fighting.

According to the hypothetical situation, a fire broke out in plot 2, sub-area 893, in the Con Ca hill regeneration forest with high terrain, steep hills, easy to burn, difficult to extinguish in hamlet 4, Bao Thanh commune. From a small fire, but due to strong winds blowing from many directions, hot weather, high temperature, the fire spread into a large fire.

When the fire was discovered, thanks to timely information and the smooth coordination of 3 attack forces of nearly 200 people in the forest protection team, households with forests in hamlet 4 and neighboring hamlets, militia and self-defense forces, the core platoon of the commune, and 10 soldiers in Fire Prevention Team No. 5, the fires were extinguished in less than 30 minutes, ensuring the safety of people and forest resources.

Due to the complicated weather conditions, prolonged hot weather has caused forest fires in some areas of Yen Thanh. However, through annual drills, vigilance, coordination, management and implementation of the "4 on-site" motto have been enhanced, so the fires have been extinguished, protecting existing forest resources.

On this occasion, Yen Thanh district also awarded certificates of merit and rewards to 2 groups and 9 individuals "with outstanding achievements in fire prevention and fighting work in May 2015".
