Yen Thanh: Prosecution of case of appropriation of blue ear disease support money

(Baonghean.vn) Nghe An Newspaper, issued on December 5, 2011, published an article "Violations in supporting the damage caused by blue ear disease in pigs in Tang Thanh commune need to be promptly and strictly handled" reflecting the false declaration of tons of pigs by the chief veterinarian of Tang Thanh commune. On December 15, 2011, Yen Thanh District People's Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 178/BC-UBND in response to Nghe An Newspaper regarding the investigation and handling of violations in supporting the damage caused by blue ear disease in pigs as follows:

Previously, noticing signs of violations, the People's Committee of Yen Thanh district directed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to directly inspect the signs of violations by the chief veterinarian. After the inspection, considering the seriousness of the incident, the People's Committee assigned the Yen Thanh District Police to investigate the case.

On December 6, 2011, Yen Thanh District Police initiated a case and prosecuted Mr. Phan Le Chau (born in 1956), former Head of the Veterinary Station of Tang Thanh Commune, for abusing his position and authority while performing official duties, creating false records, and appropriating support money for the blue ear disease that occurred in April 2011 in Tang Thanh Commune. Initially, the District Police determined that the amount of money that Mr. Phan Le Chau appropriated was 29,625,000 VND, confiscated the above amount in accordance with regulations and is continuing to investigate and expand the case.
