(Baonghean.vn) -In recent times, the hot weather has been prolonged and there has been no rain, so areas that do not have an active water source, such as the mountainous commune of Quang Thanh, Yen Thanh district, have suffered a severe drought. Burned rice and dry corn have put the summer-autumn crop at risk of being completely lost.
The local government leader here said: The summer-autumn crop of 2015 was determined to be a year of very difficult production, the whole commune planned to plant rice on 267 hectares, but due to lack of water, the commune directed 11/11 hamlets to plant 240 hectares, the remaining 30 hectares of highland were forced to convert to growing raw corn for dairy farming, bringing the total corn area to more than 80 hectares.
However, after more than 2 months of sowing, facing unfavorable weather, without water source, currently the rice in the panicle and flowering stages are all parched, many areas are blocked, burnt, and cannot be harvested. Corn in the flagging and silking stages are mostly wilted. In particular, with the corn area serving the above-mentioned dairy cow farming, at the beginning of the season, farmers are all invested with seeds, fertilizers and materials by the unit, but the possibility of not having products to supply according to plan and people "holding debt" of hundreds of millions of dong is inevitable.
We have recorded some images of burnt rice and dry corn in the mountainous commune of Quang Thanh.

Mr. Bui Trong Buoi's family lives inTan Son hamlet hasIn the 4 sao of rice field, Quan chose drought-resistant varieties with stable yields such as Khang Dan Mut Mut to put into the structure, but due to the continuous drought, the entire field in the flowering stage is now dry and burnt. Mr. Nguyen The Ke - head of Tan Son hamlet, together with the commune's agricultural officers and the villagers waded through the dry, cracked rice and corn fields. He affirmed that even if it rained now, the rice and corn could not be saved. |
 |
The entire 35 hectares of rice and 7 hectares of corn of Tan Son hamlet depend on the water of Hang Da and Khe Tret dams, but because they are located at the end of the source, the water of the dams is below the dead water level, and there is no additional rainfall. Therefore, after more than 2 months of sowing rice and more than 1 month of planting corn, there is only one time of watering, so now they are all dry and thirsty, a total loss. |

Last year's summer-autumn rice yield in Quang Thanh commune was over 4.3 tons/ha (equivalent to more than 2.1 quintals/sao), so now striving to harvest 20 kg/sao is also difficult. |

Through actual inspection at the rice fields, Mr. Phan Duc Tien - Vice Chairman of Quang Thanh Commune People's Committee said: In most of the rice fields, especially at the downstream area, humidity is only about 10-15%. |
