In Hong Thanh commune, leaf rollers have spread over 310 hectares of summer-autumn rice. According to Mr. Phan Van Son - Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, although previously, people had sprayed pesticides, including specific types such as Ammate 150SC, 30WDG, Takumi 20WG, Vitako 40WG... according to the recommended dosage of the agricultural sector. However, because this type of worm rolls the rice leaves and lies inside, it cannot be completely eradicated. Up to now, the third generation of worms is preparing to grow, the commune is actively monitoring closely with farmers to effectively prevent it. The most worrying thing is in mid-July, when the rice is forming panicles, if the leaf rollers grow strongly, it will significantly affect the yield of summer-autumn rice.

Statistics of Yen Thanh District Agriculture Department, currently available¼The summer-autumn rice area (equivalent to more than 3,000 hectares) is threatened by leaf rollers. This type of worm eats all the chlorophyll, causing the rice leaves to burn white, affecting the photosynthesis and growth of summer-autumn rice. In addition, some areas are also damaged by brown planthoppers and white-backed planthoppers. In this situation, the Department of Agriculture sent staff to coordinate with communes to increase field visits, monitor weather and pest developments to have effective prevention solutions, and protect the crop.
